A New Year on the Horizon

I always get hopeful as one year ends and a new one begins.  Like maybe I'm getting a second chance with those life changes I failed at last year.  That's not say that last year was a total failure, but of course there's room for improvement!  Last year was all about my wedding.  Preparation and planning for the wedding, including getting shape and losing weight to fit in the dress.  This year is about preparing for the future, emotionally, physically and financially.
Recently, I've started preparing myself for pregnancy.  I'm not planning on it for tomorrow or anything, but I'm thinking we'll start trying in about six months, in hopes of being pregnant by this time next year.  I'm turning 29 in three months and I'd like be pregnant by the time I'm thirty.  I hope we'll be able to have two children (I have no reason to think we won't, but you never know) and I'd like to have both before I'm 35.  And I figure if they're pretty close together, they can be friends (with a large gap between children they tend to not become friends until later in life, I should know, I'm 10 years older than my sister and 13 years older than my brother).  So, in preparation, I visited my doctor the other day and she gave me prenatal vitamins (um, they are HUGE) and told me when to stop BC.  Basically, I just want to make sure I'm as healthy as possible come baby time.
I think I'll do a list here of my goals for 2010.  They're not all about having a baby, but the idea of a baby will probably motivate me more than in years past with no baby ideas in my head.

Eat healthier
Workout again (haven't been on the spin bike since about two days before the wedding)
Increase my flexibility
Finish up the kitchen and living room renovations
Get organized
Start making more money (and saving it)
Get some order in the house, so I don't feel like I'm constantly cleaning and nothing's ever clean
Use my new Macbook Pro to write everyday (I did get it to finally write my first novel)
Stop eating out so much, and cook clean, healthy food in my new kitchen that my husband built for me
Oh, and it'd be nice to stop biting my nails also!

I'm looking forward to this new year and all of its possibilities!

New Hair

I used to change my hair pretty often, either the cut or the color, but in the last few years I was growing it out for my wedding and trying to keep as close to my natural color as possible, so I just let it grow and kept it close to dirty blonde.  Here are a couple photos from my wedding to show my hair color.

It actually kinda looks strawberry blonde sometimes.  Anyway, I've been itching to change it up and I was thinking what about red?  I've had red hair before, in fact, I've had pretty much every color hair and I think I can pull it off again.  I was thinking something like Ashlee Simpson-Wentz's hair.  Something like this.

I have a hair appointment Tuesday after work.  I'm going to bring a photo for Myra and see what she thinks.  My husband has said he likes the blonde, but I know he really doesn't care.  And I'll eventually go back to blonde, he's got the rest of our lives to see me change my hair.

Skincare for now

I have skin that I guess you could call oily in the T zone and dry on my cheeks.  I rarely ever breakout on my cheeks, I breakout a little on my forehead, get clogged pores on my nose, and ALWAYS breakout on my chin!  And when I say always, I mean I have pictures of myself in HS (10 years ago) all broken out on my chin.  It's not cool.  So, I'm always searching for the perfect products.  I've used the Murad acne products, Philosophy, Neutrogena and I'm sure a number of other things I can't remember.  A few months ago I bought the Clarisonic Mia, on QVC (it was getting close to my wedding and I was up late having trouble sleeping and everyone swears the Clarisonic is amazing and with the 3 monthly payments, how could I resist?) and I've been using the cleansers that came with it, which didn't seem to help, my skin was getting worse.  So, I went to Sephora for help and with the Kate Somerville Daily Detox Cleanser in mind.  I met an aesthetician there and she recommended I try the KS Daily Detox Cleanser in the morning with the Ole Henricksen Sheer Transformation moisturizer and at night Skyn Iceland Glacial Face Wash with my Clarisonic and follow it with the Skyn Iceland the Antidote Daily Lotion.  She gave me samples and I went home to try.  The things was, I had a $15 gift card they sent me in the mail that had to be used in 2 days, so I only had two days to try.  But, I decided to go back and get the Glacial Face Wash and the Sheer Transformation moisturizer.  But, I kept using the samples and while I wasn't too fond of the Antidote lotion at first because it has this minty cooling effect, my face has actually IMPROVED!  I should say I was always using the MD Skincare Alpha Beta Peel pads at night between cleansing and moisturizing, I've been using them off and on since a little before my wedding (which was in October) they are supposed to be used every day, but 1.  I'm lazy and 2. they cost a fortune (though I got mine through Rue La La discounted).  Anyway, I'm hoping this skin improvement is lasting.  I might have to go buy the KS cleanser and the Antidote lotion after the holidays, all this stuff adds up!  The samples are almost gone though, so we'll see if the skin lasts with only the one cleanser and lotion.

Here's a visual to avoid this post being too boring!

Because it's fun...2009 Christmas Wishlist

My new car!

I currently drive a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and while it's fast, it's not the best option for holding a baby seat.  And it also kinda sucks and sometimes likes to not start.  So, I think it's time to get a new car, something more reliable and something that's going to take me into the future as a mom.  I'm going to pick up my new car this week!  After lots of research and test drives, I've found the car for me!

2009 Chevy Equinox

Technically it's used, a woman bought it six months ago to downsize from a Suburban but then decided it was too small and traded it in for a Traverse.  But, that's okay because it's the perfect size for me!  And I'm all about getting a new car for a used car price!  I'm very excited to go get it!

First Post

This is my new blog, a blog to follow the blog about planning my wedding.  This is the blog that will hopefully follow me through the next journey.  I'm continuing my life with my wonderful husband and working on finally finding a career I love and also starting a family!  Among other things of course!
The latest projects are remodeling the kitchen, searching for a new car, and taking a writing class.  But more on those later!
